Stovetop Frittata

Frittata is an Italian breakfast or brunch egg recipe, added with meat or vegetables, and cheese. Here I have made a simple stovetop Frittata recipe made with few vegetables. Tomato, onion, spinach and few other herbs which are always available in our kitchen. So when you have all these and of course few eggs, then you are ready to make the frittata.
And as this is a stovetop version, then no need to worry about the oven!!
Personally, I would love those type of recipes which calls for very fewer utensils and equipment as it is much easier to cook and post-cooking cleaning. So this versio is for those who are like me. 😊

Equipment

  • Skillet

Ingredients
  

Egg mixture

  • 4 Eggs
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Peppercorns Freshly crushed (add according to your taste)

Vegetables

  • 1 tsp Garlic minced
  • 1 big Onion chopped
  • 2 medium Tomato chopped
  • 1 cup Spinach chopped

Seasonings

  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 tsp Chili flakes
  • 1 tsp Crushed pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasonings
  • Salt to taste
  • 3/4 cup Cheese

Instructions
 

  • Into a mixing bowl, break all the four eggs,
  • Pour the milk and add the salt and pepper
  • Beat everything well for 2 to 3 mins until the air is whisked into the mixture
  • Keep it aside
  • Into a skillet kept on medium flame, pour the olive oil
  • Then add the garlic, stir for 1 minute
  • Then add chopped onion and stir for 2-3 mins
  • Then add the tomatoes and again stir for 3mins
  • To this add the salt and the seasonings (chili flakes, Italian seasonings, crushed pepper)
  • Stir everything well until combined
  • Add the chopped spinach and mix well until it shrinks
  • Then spread the veggies across the skillet as a layer
  • Take the egg mixture and beat once more to make it fluffy
  • Then pour the egg mixture into the skillet evenly on top of the vegetables
  • Add the cheese on top of the egg as a topping
  • Cover and cook on low flame
  • Cook for 8 minutes or until the top portion gets firm and not watery.
  • Then open the pan and see the yummy frittata
  • Garnish with chili flakes or any other seasonings that you like.
  • Cut the frittata when it is at room temperature.

Notes

Things to remember :
1. If you're making in a Cast-iron Skillet, make sure it is well seasoned, otherwise, the veggies will get burnt.
2. The flame should be low after pouring the egg mixture otherwise the eggs wouldn't get cooked.
3. The cooking time should be until the top portion is firm and not watery.
4. It is better to cut the frittata while at room temperature, or else it would crumble and would not hold its shape.
